In the near future visa-free regime between Ukraine and Canada will not. About it in interview “Interfax-Ukraine” said Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada, Andriy Shevchenko.
“Quick solutions will not. This is a very conservative country in the visa plan. In Canada, a very complex scale of requirements to the country for the introduction of a visa-free regime with it, it is seven groups of requirements. But with all this I am sure that we will have bezviz with Canada, just as we have with the EU. Today, of course, our priority is to reduce the number of refusals of visas,” – said Shevchenko.
He added that in the first five months of 2018 visas for entry to Canada refused 26,77% Ukrainians.
“I believe that this is a colossal figure, which does not correspond to the partnership and friendship that exist between Ukraine and Canada. And see no logical, rational arguments which would explain this figure. The argument that Ukrainians are unable to correctly fill in the documents, I do not perceive. Because the Schengen zone just before the abolition of visa requirements, we came to numbers of the order of 3-5% failure rate”, – said Shevchenko.
Recall that Canada began to collect biometric data from all visa applicants with Ukrainian citizenship. It was noted that biometric data (fingerprints and digital photographs) will now be taking applicants for tourist visas, work permits, study and permanent residence in Canada. The biometrics will be collected from each applicant only once in 10 years, regardless of the length of the issued visa.
Earlier, the government of Canada reported that while not considering the possibility of introducing a visa-free regime for Ukrainians, because Ukraine does not meet the requirements put forward by Canada.
