In march 2016, Lisa Azuelos explained the creation of the word “gynophobie” on the website of the Huffington Post. “Following a symposium on feminism, I realized that there was no word to describe the violence and discrimination suffered by women”, and lamented it. “Gynophobie” comes from the combination of “gyné”, the Greek root for “woman” with “phobia”. Driving Force of a new movement, the director outlined the role of his new project : The association “Together against the gynophobie mission is to make the emergence of the word ‘gynophobie’, to create a global movement in order to qualify for, and denounce all acts of gynophobie, but also to change attitudes through movies, books, video, internet, pictures, grouped, and distributed on the platform of my site.”
