The actor R. Lee Ermey, best known for his interpretation of the brutal Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, the classic by Stanley Kubrick, has died at the age of 74 years. The news was announced by his manager, long-time via Twitter.

It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermey (“The Gunny”) passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

In addition to being an actor, Ermey has also had a military career in the Marines, rising to the rank of sergeant. He was eventually released from his services, due to numerous injuries.
In addition to playing in nearly 60 films, Emery has also lent her voice to many cartoons, including the three Toy Story.
