The attacks on activists is unacceptable: the European Commission made a statement in connection with the death of Catherine Gandzyuk

European Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and enlargement Johannes Hahn has expressed condolences to Ukraine over the death of an employee of the Kherson city Council and community activist Catherine Gandzyuk.

“Very upset at the news of the death of an incredibly courageous Catherine Gandzyuk. Attacks on social activists is unacceptable. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends,” he said on Twitter.

As reported today from informal sources it became known that on 34-m to year of life has died the adviser of the mayor of Kherson and well-known public activist Ekaterina Gandzyuk. Previously, the cause of death was breakage of the clot.

Later this information was confirmed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed condolences in connection with the death of the official. He also demanded from law enforcement agencies to do everything possible to punish her killers.

According to the latest information, the police reclassified the case Gandzyuk.
