In Uman for the celebration of the New year (Rosh Hashanah) of the Jewish calendar has arrived about 3 thousand pilgrims Hasidim. This was reported on the website of the national police, citing Deputy Chairman of national police Alexander Fatsevich.
All are expected to arrive about 40 thousand foreign guests.
Police have already begun activities to ensure public safety in the area of mass stay of pilgrims.
Also tomorrow in Uman will arrive 20 Israeli policemen.
Alexander Fatsevich noted that Cherkasy police are ready to ensure public order and security of citizens in the town of Uman.
“The police have everything under control. The staff of explosive service, special forces, police patrol, canine units working in two shifts. In the operational headquarters has all technical capabilities to control and security during events. Law enforcement officers are serving in emergency mode. Today in Uman arrived about three thousand pilgrims,” – said the Deputy head of the national police.
In the area of service developed Hiking routes 46, 17 fixed positions, 10 checkpoints, and 2 points on visa support.
Also at the time of events at places of stay of Hasidic pilgrims blocked traffic.
Recall, every year in Uman is a pilgrimage of Jews who are followers of the Bratslav Hasidism (one of the trends in Hasidic Judaism), on the grave of their spiritual leader Tzadik Nachman.
Traditionally, they come to this city in September, because for them, Uman – one of the most revered shrines, the annual mass pilgrimage site.
This year the celebration will begin on Sunday 9 September and will continue until Tuesday 11 September.
