The European Union has imposed sanctions against companies that participated in the construction of the Kerch bridge to annexed Crimea. This is stated in the EU’s decision of 30 July 2018, published in the official journal of the EU.
The sanctions hit two Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg – Mostotrest (MOEX: MSTT) and LLC “stroygazmontazh”. Both companies had previously been included in the American sanctions list.
Also in the sanctions list of JSC “Institute Giprostroymost – Saint-Petersburg”, JSC “Shipbuilding plant “Zaliv”, LLC “stroygazmontazh – Bridge”, Vologda, JSC “WAD”.
“The construction of this bridge (the Kerch – ed.) and its official opening may 15, 2018 are key symbolic steps in the consolidation of the Russian Federation control over the illegally annexed Crimea and Sevastopol and further isolation of the Peninsula from Ukraine”, – stated in the decision.
Recall, 15 may the President of Russia Vladimir Putin opened the automobile part of the bridge across the Kerch Strait that connects annexed Crimea and Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. In the Ukrainian foreign Ministry said that Ukraine would work to increase national and international sanctions against natural and legal persons involved in the illegal construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
