The Ministry of the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons will pay the families of political prisoners on 100 thousand hryvnias. The Commission that will deal with this issue, will be created next week. This was stated by Deputy Minister Georgy Tuka, reports “Gromadske”.
“Yesterday I was in the Ministry of Finance, and we submitted the budget request for the next year and during this meeting I agreed to a political solution that we enable this process, because the Finance Ministry was categorically opposed to be involved in the activities of the Commission. We resolved this issue, I hope next week the Commission will be created”, – said Georgy Tuka.
According to him, the main problem is that until now, there was adopted the law on political prisoners and added that the document for more than a year lies in the Verkhovna Rada.
As noted by the media, the budget for compensation to political prisoners and their families has allocated 96 million UAH. 7 million was spent, when the compensation was released from captivity on 27 December 2017.
The remaining funds are still not distributed, since there is no Commission, which will decide who it will pay compensation, the report said.
“Gromadska” informs that Russia and the annexed Crimea to hold 64 Ukrainian political prisoners, 27 of which are in Russia. 58 ó in the Crimea or in the cases of Crimea. These figures do not include prisoners contained on-site ORDO.
Recall, 22 prisoners of the citizen of the Russian Federation wrote a letter with a request to Putin on the exchange of Ukrainian political prisoners.
