The fantasy film “The shape of water” dominates the nominations for the BAFTA

Guillermo del Toro won the Golden Globe for best director for “The shape of water”.

The shape of the water, fantastic film of mexican director Guillermo del Toro, which dominates the selection of BAFTA, awards, british film, announced Tuesday, with 12 nominations.

 

The shape of the water tells of the daily life of a modest employee of a government lab, america’s secret Cold War period, whose life changes radically when she makes the discovery experience even more secret.

 

The film contributes, among other things, for the prize of best film, best director, best original screenplay and best actress (Sally Hawkins) after having already won the price of the realization and of the best original soundtrack at the Golden Globes Sunday.

 

Guillermo del Toro will be particularly in competition with Christopher Nolan for Dunkirk and Denis Villeneuve for Blade Runner 2049, two films that bring together each of the eight appointments.

 

For the award of best actress, Sally Hawkins will be the face of Annette Bening (Film Stars Don t Die in Liverpool), Margot Robbie (Me, Tonya), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) and Frances McDormand (3 Billboards : signs of the vengeance), the performance of which has earned it the award for best actress at the Golden Globes.

 

In men, the british actors are in the spotlight. Gary Oldman (The dark hours), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread) and Jamie Bell (Film Stars Don t Die in Liverpool) have been nominated at the side of the American Timothy Chamalet (Call Me By Your Name).

 

In the category of best foreign film, it is The Client of the Iranian Asghar Farhadi, awarded best foreign film at the Oscars 2017.

 

The BAFTAS will be presented on 18 February at the Royal Albert Hall in London, two weeks before the highly anticipated academy awards ceremony.
