The fencers stand out in the provincial Championship

Simon Daudlin has mounted on the top of the podium in the category men’s sabre under 11 years of age in the provincial Championship 2017.

SAINT-JÉRÔME. The young fencers of the club the Blades Cross of Saint Jerome have achieved excellent results at the provincial Championships of the Fencing Federation of Quebec that was held at the Claude-Robillard sports Complex from 19 to 21 may.

During this event, the Jérômiens crossed the iron against the best shooters in Quebec and have managed to win four medals.

Simon Daudlin, Saint-Jerome, has climbed on the highest step of the podium in the category sabre mixed under 11 years of age. He has won five of his six bouts in the preliminary round and then winning each of his fights, including the grand final. Therefore, it is the new provincial champion in this category.

At least 13 years of age

Colin St-Pierre Ménard, Saint-Jerome, has put the hand on the bronze medal in the boys under 13 years of age. Colin, who was participating in his first provincial championship, has won four fights out of five in the preliminary round. He lost in the semi-final so to get the third position.

The Jérômien Émile Beaudry is ranked in the second division after the preliminary round. Subsequently, he has won all his fights to win the gold medal in this division.

In the same category, Tomas Salazar, Saint-Jerome, has finished in ninth place.

Less than 15 years

The Jérômienne Maxim Daudlin has won the bronze medal in the category women’s sabre under 15 years of age. Maxim, thanks for a first year in this category, achieved a good personal performance, winning five of his six bouts in the preliminary portion. Classified directly to the table of 8, she won her first fight but bowed in the semi-final to finish in third position.

In boys, the Jérômiens Philippe Beaudry and Vincent Matte, respectively, have won three and five bouts in the preliminary portion of the competition. Vincent has linked directly to the table of 16, while Philippe had to win his bout in the table of 32 to get there. The 2 team mates then faced each other in table 16, and it is Vincent who has won 10 against 8. Vincent is inclined to the following table, which did not permit him access to the semi-finals. He finished in fifth place, while Philippe took the 14th place among the top 25 fencers in this category.

Canadian championship

On the 13th of April last, Vincent Matte participated in the canadian Championships of fencing, in Gatineau. He has faced some of the best shooters of Canada and won the silver medal.
