Prosecutors, who did not appear in court to debate the case of ex-mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes, will not be prosecuted. This was announced by the speaker of the GPU Andriy Lysenko on Facebook.
“Both prosecutors gave the official certificate about the illness and forced to stay at the hospital to the court and his leadership. The reasons for punishment of law enforcement there,” he said.
We remind that earlier, on August 10, the prosecution did not appear at the hearing on the case of Kernes. In addition to this, the prosecutors conceded seven hearings on the case in a row. The court interpreted this as a rejection of the charges, and ruled to close the criminal case against the former mayor. In response, the GPU started criminal proceedings against the taken decision of the judge Andrey Antonov. The Council of judges regarded it as an encroachment on the independence of the judiciary.
Recall that Gennady Kernes and his guards Vitaly Blinnikka and Eugene Smitkova, accused of committing crimes under part 2 of article 146, part 2 of article 127, part 1 of article 129 of the criminal code of Ukraine.
