Media has greatly overstated the amount of profit the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko received from the acquisition of bonds of internal state loan (government bonds). This was in response to a request, “Interfax-Ukraine” said the Advisor to the law firm Avellum representing the interests of Petro Poroshenko, Vadim Medvedev.
“Under current law, the report of significant changes in the property status of income reflects the full amount of the loan, including the repayment of the invested amount. This means that the declared income is primarily the return on investment, attracted by the budget and not an increase the condition individuals. The actual return on transactions with foreign bonds is equal to the market rate of 3.35% per annum,” – said Medvedev.
He added that 28 million UAH, which were discussed in the media, was just a return of borrowed funds, and not profit.
“Perhaps we can talk about thousands of Ukrainian hryvnia profit, but not about millions. The media, at the same time, did not pay attention to another aspect – at the expense of own funds of Petro Poroshenko, the state budget lent in the amount of 100 million UAH”, – said Medvedev.
