The Ministry of health of Ukraine and Ministry of education and science of Ukraine sent a reminder to local authorities that unvaccinated children cannot attend schools and kindergartens. The exceptions are children with medical contraindications to vaccination. This is stated in the document of 6 September 2018 with signatures Ulyana Suprun and Lily Grinevich.
“Now in Ukraine there is an unstable epidemiological situation on infectious diseases, and the incidence of measles, rubella, mumps, whooping cough, diphtheria becomes threatening. With the beginning of the school year the risk of Contracting these infections is increased, so it is very important that children are vaccinated on time according to the Calendar of preventive vaccinations”, – said in a statement on the website of the Ministry of health.
The document States that according to the law, visit the state educational institution may only those children who were vaccinated according to the vaccination Calendar, or the child has medical contraindications to vaccination (article 15 of the law of Ukraine “On protection of population from infectious diseases”).
If the child has contraindications, is granted the corresponding certificate on the basis of compulsory medical preventive examination of the child with the participation of pediatricians and other medical specialists. The decision on the admission of such children in institutions of education adopts the Board of physicians of the respective medical institutions.
“Herd immunity helps protect from deadly diseases those children who can’t be vaccinated for medical reasons”, – stated in the message.
To 6 years children should get vaccinated against hepatitis b, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio and Hib infection. At 6 years of age is the vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, rubella and mumps.
As reported, in Ukraine sent 400 thousand doses of vaccine to prevent polio.
