The Ukrainian Embassy in France urged the international community to increase pressure on Russia to immediately release Ukrainian political prisoners, in particular the journalist Roman Sushchenko. The Embassy informs in Facebook.
“Tomorrow the Supreme court will take a decision on the appeal in the case of Roman Sushchenko. It is necessary to continue the consolidation of international efforts by increasing pressure on Russia for the immediate release of all Ukrainian political prisoners”, – stated in the message.
We will remind, the Russian FSB detained the journalist “UKRINFORM” Roman Sushchenko at the end of September 2016. He was accused of espionage. The lawyer said that Sushchenko threatening 20 year prison term in the case of non-recognition of their guilt.
The Moscow city court on 4 June Sushchenko sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony. The trial in the case against the journalist was held behind closed doors, so court was announced only introductory and operative part of the judgment.
