The US defence budget prohibits state agencies to purchase products of several Chinese companies

The US defence budget for the next fiscal year 2019 includes the ban on the purchase and use in government equipment made by Chinese companies ZTE and Huawei. This is stated in the text of the document, which was published in the database of the U.S. Congress.

According to the text, the ban will take effect a year later since the signing of the budget on August 13, 2019.

In addition to ZTE and Huawei in the list of companies whose Telecom equipment and services are prohibited from purchase and use to state agencies, includes the Chinese Hytera Communications Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Dahua Technology, as well as a number of subsidiaries of these companies.

In exceptional cases procurement may be carried out after the approval of the Director of National intelligence in the US – if interested in this Ministry can conclusively prove such a need. Permission if it is granted, will operate not more than a year after the ban comes into force.

The reason for this ban were the conclusions of U.S. experts that a listed company have the ability to bypass the mechanism of control over foreign investments in the United States, and as a result have access to a number of modern dual-use technologies.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of China has declared its dissatisfaction with the fact that the country is in the U.S. defense budget is mentioned in a negative way, and called “to abandon the ideas of the cold war” and to avoid negative statements in relation to China, “to avoid harming Sino-us relations and bilateral cooperation in important areas”.

The US President Donald trump has signed a law that requires the national defense spending to $ 716 billion, yesterday, 13 August 2018. In addition, the document also envisages the allocation to Ukraine assistance in the amount of $ 250 million in the sphere of security.
