The United States supports the creation of a Confederation of Palestine and Jordan. This issue was discussed at a meeting of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, with representatives of Knesset in Ramallah. On Sunday, 2 September, according to the 10th Israeli television channel.
As told Mahmoud Abbas, senior Advisor and son-in-law of U.S. President Jared Kushner and the special representative of the Washington administration in international negotiations Jason Greenblatt suggested to abandon the idea of an independent Palestinian state and create a Confederation of Palestine and Jordan with capital in Amman. As the channel, the Palestinian President is ready to go for it, but only under condition of occurrence of Israel in the Confederation.
The government of Jordan in response to such a proposal, the U.S. stated that it “is not a topic for discussion.”
“Jordan’s position remained unchanged – the creation of two States, with a capital of a Palestinian state in Jerusalem,” the statement said.
We will remind, in July the US promised to soon publish the plan of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, and called it “the deal of the century”.
