Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asked the leader of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev to give him a list of Ukrainian political prisoners being held in Russian prisons. This was told Dzhemilev in an interview to “Radio Liberty”.
“During the recent meetings, and this was July 12, Poroshenko was at the opening of the TRANS-Anatolian gas pipeline system, we again met with Erdogan, I told him that now in the Russian prisons more than 70 of our political prisoners do agree with Putin for their release. First, I spoke with foreign Minister Cavusoglu. He said: of course, we will take some action, but you name at least some names. I called Sentsov, Kolchenko…”, – Dzhemilev told.
Then a few days ago Turkish foreign Minister asked for a full list of political prisoners, he said.
“I think they will still keep talking with Putin. But how will be productive conversation? I still ask: do you have there “stash” Russian terrorists to exchange? Although, from my point of view, it’s immoral to change completely innocent people, patriots of their country for terrorists, for people who have hands stained in blood.”
Previously, Irina Gerashchenko said that Russia rejected the initiative of Ukraine to meet in Minsk to discuss the transfer of the Russian Federation 36 Russian citizens in exchange for the Ukrainians.
