Established short film competition named Kira Muratova “brief encounters” for young filmmakers. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of culture of Ukraine, which initiated the creation of the competition together with the Odessa film Studio and Odessa branch of the National Union of cinematographers.
The first competition named Kira Muratova will be in 2019. The winners will receive cash prizes and the opportunity to shoot their new film projects at the Odessa film Studio.
The date of establishment of the contest was timed to the birthday of the Director Kira Muratova. Today she would have turned 84 years old.
Minister of culture Yevhen Nyshchuk said in connection with the establishment of the competition: “to Present the Ukrainian, but also world cinema without a figure of Kira Muratova – impossible, so great is her contribution to its creation. Her films are the works of high cinematic art and inspire artists both in Ukraine and far beyond its borders. That is why the initiative of the beginning of the short film competition named Kira Muratova “brief encounters” is extremely important in the context of the government agenda where the development of the national cinema occupies one of leading places in the sphere of development of culture.”
Recall, Kira Muratova died on 6 June 2018.
As previously reported, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that next year, state funding for cinema will be 1 billion UAH.
