Chairman of the Synodal information and educational Department of UOC-MP, Archbishop Clement stated that the cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate does not matter from the point of view of Church canons and secular law. About it reports “RIA Novosti”.
“This agreement testifies that between them there is no trust. Despite the various statements, they don’t trust each other, so come up with a different signature in order to obtain what they seek,” said Clement.
Also the head of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vladimir Legoyda added that the agreement does not create a Ukrainian Church.
It is noted that the text of the agreement at the moment does not appear either Kiev or Constantinople.
Today, 11 October, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed in Turkey an agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate. According to Poroshenko, the agreement completes the process of creation of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the granting of the Tomos.
