You can now fish through the ice in a hut on the ice

There are ice sculptures. The ice bars. The ice hotels. And now there’s the huts of ice for ice fishing!

Yes: in the pretty village of Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Saguenay, you can introduce you to ice fishing in small shacks made of ice and snow, at the foot of the beautiful cliffs of the fjord.

This is the youth hostel Adventure Rose-of-Wind which offers this activity since the 1st of February.

All in all, Adventure-Pink-the-Wind offers four cabins for fishing in ice, with roof or tarp. They are all equipped with a wood stove, and located approximately 1 km from the hostel, on the ice of the Saguenay. You will have to walk a good twenty minutes to get there; what you pay for a true small change of scenery of winter.

Once in your shelter, you should be pretty comfortable, since the ambient temperature runs between 0 and 5 °C.

The youth hostel Adventure Rose des vents opened its doors in the former rectory of Sainte-Rose-du-Nord in the summer of 2015, but this is the first time that it welcomes visitors during the winter.

Its new in packages ice fishing hut ice are offered by the day, half-day, with or without a guide, for small groups.

Prices starting at 80$ (taxes included) for a half-day, for two to four people.

If you plan to spend the night in the area, however, you should opt for a package combining fishing and accommodation at the youth hostel. Maybe you will be able to cook your catch of the day in the common kitchen?
