From 28 to 30 September in the river will host the international book festival Book Space, which will be attended by more than 60 publishers from around the world and 80 authors. Organizers – Dnipropetrovsk regional and city administrations, as well as the program “Cultural capital”.
Advisor to the Governor of the Dnepropetrovsk area Yury Golik and art Director of the festival Victoria T. Yurkin during a press conference said that the event will include a book fair, presentations of books, poetry readings, exhibitions, lectures, musical performances and chat with authors from around the world.
The festival will be held at several venues: the regional state administration building in the Park missiles and the square of Heroes. The music scene will be placed in the garden of the Museum of Ukrainian art. Every day of the festival will complete the concerts of such groups: DZ’OB Quarpa and jazz project Mariana Savka “In the garden”.
The name of the festival – Book Space – selected for the reason that the Dnieper has always played a leading role in space exploration, and are now having the desire to play the same role in “the book of space technology.”
“We want to promote reading, to instill a love of books. In state institutions and schools across the region we have long established beech-crossing and give the book – it’s a good tradition, which began with Dneprogaz”, – said Yuriy Golik.
According to Golik, the upcoming festival will be bigger than similar events in other cities of Ukraine.
On book festival Book Space come about publishers and authors from Ukraine, France, Poland, Denmark, USA, Germany and other countries. Among the guests were the owner and writer Garik Korogodsky, writer Oksana Zabuzhko and Irena Karpa, a poet-satirist Andrew Orlusha. From USA will arrive historian, Harvard Professor Sergei Bad, a French historian and writer Andre Roche.
“We will have children’s, military, poetic, historical, and educational programs. The majority of Ukrainian and foreign guests will participate in the Central programme of “Transformation” – there will be various discussions, book presentations and film screenings,” – said the art Director of the festival Victoria T. Yurkin.
